Ole Errson

Kailash Ecovillage
Ole cofounded Kailash Ecovillage, a rental model cohousing community accessible to lower income Portland residents, in 2007. Its main focus is food production and includes on-site composting of all kitchen and garden wastes as well as a permitted humanure composting and urine diversion program which has allowed us to be self sufficient in nitrogen and other nutrients. Our two-acre inner Portland site is evenly distributed between 45 individual garden plots, a group garden program, and fruit tree, berry, grape, and ornamental gardens. We emphasize veganic gardening practices. Other sustainable practices at Kailash include extensive recycling, rainwater harvesting, and renewable energy systems. Ole recently retired from his career as a family physician with the Multnomah County health department.
